Mental health awareness week
Just concluding a really nice time at the Mental Health Awareness event at The Crossing at St Paul’s in Walsall Town centre.
We met up with some great people both service users and staff from other local agencies who support folk with mental health issues and there carers. We talked mainly about how to access those services such as ours which span the gap between what the NHs provides and the self help measures people can put in place within their own lives.
Met a lovely lady from Romania who was practicing her English while getting advice about issues with her little girl, a gent who is very interested in Mindfulness and a lady with who me we explored how her taking care of herself by relaxing physically and treating herself kindly can help her mental health concerns. Plus lots more!
If you weren’t able to come along but would like to talk about any of the above please do get in touch.
Alex Simon was giving taster treatments to help people get into a calmer place and perhaps learn the skill to get there on there own in future, also to see how taking care of your body when your stressed helps your mind. Alex has specialist training and experience of working with people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and conditions such as autism, fibromyalgia and epilepsy.
We are always keen to work closely with our local community and with other organisations so if you think we might have something to offer within your event or your organisation please get in touch with Andrea our centre manager on 01922649142
