Tina Elsworth
Tina is our Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) and has a real drive to help everyone make the most of our feet as the foundation for the rest of our health. Tina’s background is varied and like a lot of us she tried a number of careers before moving into the one that she now realises was what she should have been doing all along. Tina worked in the NHS and noticed how the nurses and others were so busy with well, nursing that they didn’t always have time to take care of some of the patients more basic and perhaps less medically essential care needs such as the care and maintenance of their feet. This was what motivated her to train to offer that service.
Tina attended the well respected ‘College of Foot Health Practitioners’ in Black Heath and graduated in 2009 with a Diploma level qualification which qualifies her to undertake all that routine maintenance which most of us neglect; nail nipping, reduction of Callus, treatment of Verrucas and corns plus the identification of infections, fungal nail problems. Tina is also able to assess and advise on structural problems of the feet such as faulty gait and posture and bunions. Tina does not offer any form or surgery obviously but can refer clients on should she identify more serious problems. All of this is a real boon at a time when the NHS locally and nationally is rolling back services for foot health and waiting lists are getting longer in some areas.
The aim of Tina’s treatments is to enhance the client's comfort and so rather than simply treating the feet she looks after them to look after you. Ending each treatment with a foot and lower leg massage (excellent for circulation) and appropriate after care advice.
Tina is a qualified first aider and a member of the Alliance of Private Sector Practitioners.
