What is Crystal Therapy
Crystals have been used as symbols of healing and power for a very long time; some of our earliest cultures used and carved crystals and their evidence that they were revered as having healing qualities. This same evidence points to the use of metals fossils and rocks being used in the same way so here the term crystal is used to include some types of rock, metal ores and fossils. Crystal therapy is the application of these materials in various techniques to bring about beneficial or healing results.

How does Crystal Therapy work?
Therapists who use crystals in healing believe that certain crystals can focus or aid the channelling of healing energy. Other crystals are believed to have specific characteristics, which make them suitable for specific applications. Some crystals are used therefore to treat specific ailments, others for more general healing.
Crystals have a molecular structure that causes them to vibrate at a constant rate, and this is the reason they are often incorporated into technological devises such as watches clocks or electrical devices. For the same reason they are believed to have a regulating and balancing effect on biological process, and may be placed close to specific organs or energy points within the body to create this affect.
It is felt that specific crystals are best able to treat specific organs, or parts of the body. Amazonite is used to calm the nervous system and strengthen the heart; haematite is used to treat poor circulation and blood disorders; and clear quartz is used to release blocked emotions and brings about calm. The fossil ammonite is used help us accept change, and to boost strength and resilience.
What does Crystal Therapy involve?
The client may be massaged and then crystals lie on various parts of the body, or remain fully dressed while, lying on a massage table as the therapist places various patterns and combinations of crystals in patterns on or around the body. The pattern and the types of crystals used will depend on the needs of the individual. Afterwards the client will be advised to drink plenty of water and to rest.
In addition, the therapist may also help the client to choose a crystal to take away, or suggest crystals to buy. These crystals, are then usually carried in a pocket or worn as a piece of jewellery, to encourage the body to continue healing and balancing after the healing session.
What is Crystal Therapy good for?
Crystal therapy may be used for a variety of conditions including migraines, digestive problems and fatigue. In addition, crystal healing is often used to help mental and emotional issues including depression, anxiety or grief.

Crystal therapy has a number of benefits, it is gentle tactile and can be used alongside all other forms of healing. It can aid mental clarity and induce relaxation. Crystal therapy is a holistic therapy and is often used in conjunction with other therapies to aid the clients overall recovery.
