Therapeutic Massage treats specific complaints and includes a deep massage in the affected area and the surrounding areas to bring about a therapeutic outcome. Conditions for which this may be suitable are recovering from an operation or road traffic accident, frozen shoulder, back injuries and nerve impingement.
A therapeutic massage includes an element of assessment and is often recommended where a person is experiencing on-going difficulty with a specific area without an obvious cause. It is also indicated following an identified injury and can be used as the basis of a treatment plan which will then be followed potentially using other therapies or other massage techniques such as deep tissue or sports massage.
If necessary a referral can be made to our physiotherapist for more assessment and more intensive treatment.
Aromatherapy massage is a gentle treatment using soft stroking motions which are comforting and relaxing to promote a deeply peaceful state. This is enhanced with the use of essential oils appropriate to the person or to the condition with which they present.
‘Essential Oils are herb and plant extracts. They are concentrated extracts which are used to treat a large range of disorders, deficiencies and strains in the mind, body and emotions. The essential oils are used to draw on the scent instinct to invoke an emotion which then produces a physiological reaction in the body that all contribute towards the individual wellbeing.
The benefits of aromatherapy come from the scent of the oils which have the power to transform emotions and heal. Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment which is designed to significantly improve physical and psychological well-being.’ Natural therapy pages
