Complementary Holistic and Natural Treatments
What is reflexology?
Reflexology, which is believed to have very ancient roots, works on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet, the hand and the ear. For example, the spot in the centre of the big toe corresponds to the pituitary gland, and on the ball of the foot underneath the big toe there is a point that corresponds to the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
Reflexology can be used both to help with conditions which the client is seeking immediate treatment; or it can be used to keep the body’s energy flowing and the body mind balance in harmony.
This is a very relaxing treatment and very popular with our clients.
Treatments take 1 hour and cost £30
Aromatherapy is the therapuetic use of Essential oils to bring about benefit for the client. the treatment may involve massage, steam inhalation or the use of an oil diffuser, or all of the above.
Each essential oil from a flower, plant, root, leaf or piece of bark may contain up to one hundred different chemical components (including esters, ketones, aldehydes and terpenes) which can have a strong effect on the whole person. For example, research has shown that the smell of lavender increases alpha waves in the back of the head, producing relaxation. The smell of jasmine increases beta waves in the front of the head, producing sensations of being more alert.
What are the benefits of aromatherapy?
Clients report that the process of having a gentle massage with aromatherapy oils is a wonderfully relaxing and soothing experience. Depending on an individual’s needs, essential oils can be used to soothe, uplift, energise, relax or stimulate.
examples of the value and uses of individual oils include:

What are the side effects and when should aromatherapy be avoided?
Some essential oils must be strictly avoided during pregnancy, if you are epileptic, have high blood pressure or sensitive skin or intend to go into strong sunshine after applying the oils. Because of this it is vital that you consult a qualified practitioner who will take your specific needs into account before creating a recipe of oils for use on your skin. Essential oils are very strong and can cause severe irritation unless they are diluted in a carrier oil. They should never be applied to any part of the skin unless diluted first, and they should never be taken internally. For all these reasons its very impartant to seek treatment from a fully qualified aromatherapist. Two of our therapsit are qualfified to use oils in this way.

Diet and nutritional support
The aim of the nutritional therapy is to help our bodies to help themselves. to achieve this we aim to detoxify the body, correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies, restore healthy digestion and help the client develop a positive mental attitude. This treatment is carried out my our Holistic Physician Dr Rhonda Lee
How does it work?Nutritional therapists believe that many health problems are caused or aggravated by nutritional deficiencies. Deficiencies are not always caused by poor diet, but may also be due to infections preventing effective absorption of nutrients in the body, allergies, or excess toxins in the body .By combining the principles of naturopathy, environmental medicine and nutritional research, therapists look at what nutritional elements may be missing and then use special diets or nutritional supplements to correct deficiencies and promote detoxification in the body. Once any nutritional deficiencies are taken care of, symptoms usually disappear.
What does it involve? To begin with, clients will usually be asked a series of questions about their medical and family history, current symptoms, lifestyle and diet. The therapist may also suggest carrying out tests such as hair mineral analysis, hormone tests or food intolerance. Based on the information gained, the practitioner will identify areas for further questioning to ascertain whether the client has allergies, deficiencies, or toxic overload. Having formulated a diagnosis about what may be causing the problem, the client is provided with a health programme, suggesting foods to eat, foods to eliminate and possibly some dietary supplements.
These suggestions are normally carried for out for around 2 weeks, after which the client attends a series of follow-up appointments. At these follow-ups the therapist assesses the client’s changing symptoms and adjusts the programme accordingly. Once the course is finished, the therapist will prescribe a maintenance programme for the client, which is designed to maintain the long-term health benefits of the treatment. Clients with chronic serious health problems may require longer treatment.
What are the benefits? As with many other complementary treatments, nutritional therapy doesn’t just treat specific diseases but has wider repercussions on general health by boosting the immune system, enhancing energy levels and having a positive effect on mental attitudes. Nutritional therapy may benefit long-term health problems with less clearly-defined symptoms such as headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome and muscular aches and pains, in addition to asthma, eczema and allergies, arthritis, menstrual problems and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Lee also offers this treatment as part of her Integrated Healthcare work.
What are the side effects and when should it be avoided? Nutritional therapy has few negative side effects, as it is a non-invasive treatment. because this treatment is offered by a medically trained Doctor, there are no preset contraindications, existing medical conditions can be discussed during the consultation.
Sessions take up to one hour, the first session cost £45 and each subsequent treatment is £36
Colonic Tummy Massage
Have you noticed that you are feeling down, tired or out of sorts, perhaps suffering from colds or minor viral infections? Do you feel bloated and uncomfortable especially after eating even a light meal? Do you worry that you may have bad breath? All of these symptoms and others generally associated with the digestion may be a sign that you have a sluggish colon. Our colon is a key part of our digestive system responsible not only for the processing of waste, but for fluid balance, digestion and nutrient extraction. If our colon is less than on top form we may not make best use of the food we eat, we may become dehydrated and constipated (remember constipation often then leads to diarrhoea) we may even retain large amounts (in extreme cases up to 40lbs) of waste material generating gas and making the colon progressively more sluggish. Even if you are going to the loo regularly if your colon is sluggish it may not be processing the food in effectively. So what can be done? We offer a range of treatments suitable for the treatment of digestive problems such as IBS, these include various detox treatments, Clinical Hypnotherapy and some forms of massage. We highly recommend a full lifestyle consultation with a trained therapist to determine the best treatment for you as an individual. We have recently introduced a new treatment called Colon therapy Massage, this may be the perfect way to get your colon back in working order and then, along with advice on nutrition and other lifestyle changes we can work with you to maintain a healthy colon. Colon therapy massage is the next best thing to a colonic, and a lot more comfortable!Colon therapy massage works by encouraging the colon to cleanse itself, and renewed vigour in the bowl by stimulating the natural functions of the digestive system. This treatment is both relaxing and uplifting, and you therapist will be able to talk you through the process before she begins. She will then start with a soothing hot mitt foot cleanse, followed by a deep stomach massage using calming massage oils tailored to your individual needs this will help your colon to relax. A warming detox mask is then applied to the stomach area a left for 10 – 15 minutes. While the mask is working its magic you will have the choice of a relaxing foot or head massage. After the detox mask has been removed your therapist will then perform a second massage with oils to finish off this ultimate pampering experience.

Aqua Foot Detox
Water is vital to the health of our bodies and is one of its major components. This treatment involves sitting fully clothed in a chair while your feet are immersed in a specially designed foot bath which operates while you rest. This is a most relaxing treatment, and one which can help with a wide range of toxic build ups.
